Multimedia

Animoto
Create and share videos with your class, with parents, and beyond. No software downloads required. Combine your photos and video clips with music to make professional videos that'll impress. Animoto is a digital tool that allows you to create high-quality videos in a short time and from any mobile device, inspiring students and helping improve academic lessons. The Animoto interface is friendly and practical, allowing teachers to create audiovisual content that adapts to educational needs.

Basecamp
With Basecamp, you break up your work into separate projects. Each project contains everything related to the work at hand, all the people involved, every discussion, every document, file, task, important date, etc. Unlike email where everything starts disorganized and you have to constantly manage the chaos, Basecamp projects keep everything organized by default. Things are always where you expect, and it's obvious where to put stuff. Every project includes the tools all teams need to work together; message boards, to-dos, schedules, docs, file storage, real-time group chat, and automatic check-in questions. You can rename them, turn off the ones you don’t need, or integrate with third-party tools like time trackers to tailor things to the project at hand. For individuals: Basecamp’s “My stuff” menu lets you see everything that’s on your plate. Your assignments across every project, your schedules, things that you've bookmarked, etc.

Book Creator
A simple tool for creating digital books by combining text, images, audio and video to create science reports, research journals, instruction manuals, interactive stories, comic adventures, digital portfolios, or poetry books. Create your own teaching resources or have your students take the reins.

Bounce
A little app that lets people add feedback to any interface and toss that back and forth with other people.

Canva
A graphic design platform that allows users to create documents, presentations, posters, and other visual content. Users can choose from many professional designed templates, and edit the designs.

Canvas
Use the essential functionality of the Canvas learning management platform. You'll have access to course creation and importing; fully native mobile apps for you and your students; standards-based gradebooks; a quizzing platform and more.

Curriki
Library of open teaching and learning resources, educator-vetted, openly licensed, online educational materials for use, reuse, adaptation, and sharing. 

Desmos
A suite of math software tools: graphing, scientific, four function, and matrix calculators; geometry tools; math classroom activities; “ Getting to Know You” activity; and very useful starter screens.

diagrams.net
An open source, online, desktop and container deployable diagramming software. Diagrams.net has everything you expect from a professional diagramming tool and you can store your data wherever you want to!

Dropbox
Sign up for 2 GB of storage, and start accessing and sharing photos, documents and other files from any device. Dropbox Basic makes it easy to securely send large files to anyone and collaborate easily on the files you share. File previews: Anyone visiting your shared links can preview over 175 file types and add comments – no special software required. Seamless collaboration: It’s hard to keep track of important attachments in a crowded inbox. Dropbox makes it easy to connect and collaborate, whether you’re sharing files with a friend or working with a large team.

Edpuzzle
The free version has access to more than 5 million videos or create your own interactive video; storage space for 20 videos; and add questions, audio and notes to go with videos. You also have access to detailed analytics on your students' results.

An educators’ guide to open educational resources with information about online repositories, curriculum-sharing websites, and sources for lesson plans and activities. 

Excel Easy
Grades 4 – 16+. If you're an Excel beginner, this is a good place to start. You can use Excel to enter all sorts of data and perform financial, mathematical, or statistical calculations and is a great tool for organizing data and lists. This free site is not only well organized and user friendly, it also offers a free tutorial on how to use Excel and includes an overview of all chapters and over 300 examples.

Flipgrid
A video discussion platform that enables educators to post discussion prompts and students respond with short videos.

Go Board
Great for tutoring one-on-one or for partner work. A GoBoard is an online tool that combines video conferencing with an interactive canvas, designed to help students collaborate one-on-one, on virtually any topic. Simply create a GoBoard, share the link, and begin sharing knowledge, face-to-face. There is never anything to download! With GoBoard, you can see and hear the other person, or just type back and forth; share the graphing calculator, molecular bonds creator, reference library, and other tools; or upload work to a shared canvas, by simply snapping a photo and texting it in.

Google
Google G Suite and Google Classroom are free for teachers and schools. G Suite is a free suite of communication and collaboration tools for learning anywhere, anytime, on any device. Google Classroom is a tool within G Suite for Education for educators to create, review, and organize assignments.

Google Drawings: A Google Drive Application!
Add some color to your documents, presentations, and websites with easy to create shapes, charts and diagrams. Work with others to build charts, layout diagrams, create flow charts, and then easily add them to other documents or embed them on a website. Comment on a shape or text box to give context to your discussion. Send an email notification by adding someone to a comment. All your drawings are automatically saved and stored in Google Drive. Access them wherever you go, from any device.

Google Forms
Google Forms is a full-featured forms tool that comes free with your Google account and includes 12 field types: 9 question types, along with text, photo, and video fields. You can add standard question types, drag-and-drop questions in the order you like, customize the form with simple photo or color themes, and gather responses in Forms or save them to a Google Sheets spreadsheet. You can create and analyze surveys right in your mobile or web browser. You can get results as they come in and summarize survey results with charts and graphs.

Google Meet
Video meetings with up to 100 students. Recordings are available for up to 30 days before expiring.

Google Jamboard – Collaboration and Discussion
A free Google tool for encouraging class discussion and student collaboration. Students can make questions and comments on a virtual whiteboard that can be monitored and supervised by instructors. Jamboards can also be saved as image files for students and instructors to refer back to.

Google Sites
Build internal project hubs, team sites, public-facing websites, and more—all without designer, programmer, or IT help. With the new Google Sites, building websites is easy. Just drag content where you need it. When you create a new site, it’s automatically added to Drive, like your other files stored in Drive. You can edit a Google Site together with someone else in real time, and see each other’s changes live. Publish the site for everyone to see, or restrict sharing permissions and make the site accessible only to people with which you want to share. Google Sites websites are responsive, which means they’re optimized for tablets and smartphones, too. Note: You can view the new Sites on most browsers on computers and mobile devices. However, at this time, you can only edit new Sites content on a computer using Chrome or the Mozilla Firefox browser.

Google Translate
Connect with people, places and culture across language barriers.

HyperDocs
Digital lesson plans that are designed by teachers and given to students that provide access for students to all content and learning in one organized digital space.

Lexile Text Analyzer
The Lexile Analyzer uses an algorithm to evaluate the reading demand — or text complexity — of books, articles and other materials. The Lexile Analyzer measures the complexity of the text by breaking down the entire piece and studying its characteristics, such as sentence length and word frequency, which represent the syntactic and semantic challenges that the text presents to a reader. The outcome is the text complexity, expressed as a Lexile measure, along with information on the word count, mean sentence length and mean log frequency. Spanish text can also receive Lexile measures.

LiveBinders
This tool is essentially a 3-ring binder for the web. Teachers can organize and store resources and important documents. In the free package, you can have up to 5 binders with 2 level of tabs; storage of up to 100MB; and file size upload limit of 5MB.

Loom Pro
A video recording tool that helps you get your message across through instantly shareable videos. With Loom, you can record your camera, microphone, and desktop simultaneously.

MCN
A list of free museum and museum-adjacent resources, including virtual tours and lesson plans.

Mindomo
Mind mapping is a highly productive method of visual brainstorming that you can use to plan projects or to map out a knowledge base. Maps are shareable but require you to register and login to save them. Collaborative mind maps, concept maps, outlines and Gantt charts enable you to achieve your goals by visually mapping out your ideas, plans and interests.

Microsoft Office Forms
Easily create surveys, polls and quizzes to collect feedback, measure satisfaction, and organize team events. Some of the types of questions available are multiple choice, text (short or long answers), rating, ranking, Likert, Net Promoter Score and date. In order to create forms you will need a free or school Office 365 account. You can also embed images or YouTube videos, add subtitle description, shuffle responses and add questions or options. Choose background color or image. Organize form into sections and re-order questions at any time. Copy or duplicate questions or even delete questions. Questions can also have branching responses. Share the form online using the provided link, embed into OneNote notebook page, email link, QR code, or embed link in webpage. Results can be exported to Excel sheet. Finally, you can set start and end dates at specific times for when the form is open or closed for access.

Planboard
Planboard is a free online lesson planner and gradebook. Planboard helps teachers simplify their lives by streamlining lesson plans and centralizing everything onto a computer.

Schoology
Schoology is an online course management system that allows teachers to create and manage academic courses for their students. Schoology comes pre-integrated with more than 200+ tools, student information systems (SIS), education platforms, and works well with PowerSchool. Learning is not just about teachers and students. Schoology allows you to bring everyone together—students, teachers, coaches, parents, administrators—with one communication and collaboration platform.

Simplenote

The variety of study activities enables users to memorize data quickly without getting bored from using a single method of study. Studystack enables teacher to quickly enter data once and have a dozen different activities created for their students to memorize facts.

TeacherTube
TeacherTube is an online community for sharing instructional videos. It is a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners. It is a site to provide anytime, anywhere professional development with teachers teaching teachers. As well, it is a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill.

TEDEd
Browse hundreds of TED-Ed Animations and TED Talks - designed to spark the curiosity of your learners. Find thousands of other video-based lessons organized by the subjects. Create customized lessons for students by adding interactive questions, discussion topics and more to TED-Ed Animations, TED talks or any video on YouTube. Share lessons with students online and track the results. Inspire students to share their ideas with the world--students can discover, explore and present their big ideas as TED-style talks.

Top Hat
K - 12 teachers will need to fill out a form and wait for Top Hat to respond. Top Hat Basic features include lecture streaming and recording; slide presentations and editing; automatic attendance; live chat and discussions and polling questions. Top Hat's click on target questions are one of the most popular question styles available! These questions allow you to upload an image, have students identify a requested target on the image, and then view the the aggregate student submissions on a heat map!. Click on target questions are incredibly powerful for both polling questions and questions with correct answers - the options are endless!

Wakelet
Wakelet is a platform that allows you to curate and organize content to save and share. You can save videos, articles, images, Tweets, links or even add your own text. WebAssign
 It allows students to work problems and get immediate feedback if they answer correctly or not. 

Web2.0calc
Web 2.0 Calc provides users with several math tools. First, users can access a scientific calculator when loading the website or by clicking the “Home” button. Another tool is the Formulary that lets users input data into a formula, and the website will calculate the answer based on the given variables.

WeTransfer
WeTransfer works as if your e-mail account can support those large file sizes — you type in your e-mail address and the recipient’s e-mail address, add a message, attach the file, and send. That’s it. You don’t even need to set up an account and you can transfer files as large as 2GB. The recipient gets an e-mail with a link to download the file.

Wonderopolis
With multi-disciplinary content that purposefully aligns to Common Core State Standards (CCSS), the STEM Educational Quality Framework, and Bloom's Digital Taxonomy, Wonderopolis has earned a place in K-12 curriculum and in classrooms worldwide. Teachers can use the daily Wonder to jumpstart their students' critical thinking, or dip into the ever-growing collection of Wonders for content that relates to specific themes and student interests.

Wordwall
Wordwall.net allows teachers to create interactive games and printed materials for their students. Teachers simply enter the content they want and Wordwall.net will automate the rest. Zoom
Video and voice conferencing tool that can be used with up to 100 students. Zoom is a great tool for delivering safe virtual instruction to students of all grade levels that includes a “breakout” room featured. Zoom support: videos, step-by-step how-to, and chat/phone support.

Baamboozle
A quick and easy-to-use tool for playing and creating games: Great for a quick lesson review! Divide the class into two - four teams and begin play. Formative
A web-based tool that allows teachers to create and grade assignments, deliver them to students, receive results, and provide individualized feedback in real-time. Teachers can use the platform to create new assignments for their students from scratch, or they can upload pre-existing documents and transform them into paperless assignments. Also allows basic Google Classroom integration.

Go Board
Great for tutoring a student or for partner work. TouchCast
Get the Touchcast iPad app free for educators, and provide your students with a creative tool for hands-on projects in the classroom. Educators create engaging interactive videos for their students, and include supplemental materials in their Smart Videos, such as websites, images, PDF’s, other videos, polls and quizzes, to enrich their students’ experience and allow for formative assessment throughout the viewing.

ViewPure
Keep students or group focused on your message (or the video's message) without distractions. You can embed these purified videos in your own site. When you have an online newsletter to give out to parents, these purified youtube videos can go directly into your newsletter. Also, you can embed them directly into your class or school website. Crop your videos to watch only the segment you want to share with your class or group. There are some interesting videos in the Teacher Resources (sorted by grade level band and topic).

Web Poster Wizard
Web Worksheet Wizard and Project Poster have combined to make Web Poster Wizard. This tool allows educators to create a lesson, worksheet, or class page and immediately publish it online. Teachers can also set up classes and assign projects to students. Students complete the assignments by creating their own online projects or reports. Teachers and students can even add images and links to their pages. This tool is for educational purposes only. All personal or personally identifiable information will be automatically deleted.

ZaCue: Free teleprompter
ZaCue teleprompter is a site for keyboard or touch screen users. Your browser works like a teleprompter: no extra software needed. Although ZaCue teleprompter is optimised for smartphone and tablet users, it also works with touchscreen laptops. Just type or cut and paste your script to the form box and press the "start prompter" button to begin. The site also includes an instructional video.

Zamzar: Online file conversion
No software to download. Just select your file, pick a format to convert to and away you go. With the free service, you can convert up to 2 files in any 24 hour period.
