Eagle Team,

The Athletic Department, and the Coaching staff are all excited for you to return to campus. We have missed you.

This Spring, we will not be competing with the SCHSL. We will instead offer a GSSM Intramural option for students in residence. This decision was not made lightly or without detailed analysis. Based on our two seven-week residential periods with a three-week at-home period in between, scheduling SCHSL meets, matches, and games was not viable. That, coupled with transportation limitations, your survey responses, and health safety concerns for our community, drove the athletic department to the Intramural play only decision.

This coming semester we have developed a robust intramural program. During the first residency, we will be offering both volleyball and basketball. We will play a full seven-week season with co-ed teams.

We will be playing soccer and tennis again full seven-week season with co-ed teams during the second residency.

We will also be offerings: trips to the golf course, ultimate frisbee, dance, pickleball, daily coach-led fitness (weekdays), sport-specific clinics, and workouts run by GSSM coaches.

Strength Training and Conditioning is ongoing virtually on PLT4M. We have sent emails to students not signed up. Make sure to communicate with us and begin conditioning now. We need you fit and ready to play.

Functional movement screens can be done with Trainer Jen to get you ready, especially if you have any old injuries. Please contact Jen Nesseth, nesseth@gssm.k12.sc.us, to find out more.

Coaches will be in touch with more details. This will be an excellent chance for you to play and be a member of a team or learn a sport. We will live stream your games, we will have game day activities, and you will compete.

For our teammates that remain virtual, we will continue with PLT4M training. Virtual Eagles can Zoom in for fitness and dance workouts. Functional movement testing and rehab work can also be done virtually.

The department is here for all our students, virtual and on campus. Please feel free to reach out to us for any of your fitness needs.

The Athletic Department looks forward to working with you all.

Go Eagles!
