Ways to Give
Make a secure gift online in just a few minutes.
Many gifts made to the Foundation are in the form of cash. This method is particularly convenient for end-of-year giving. Make sure that the check and envelope, if mailed, are dated or postmarked by December 31 if you wish to receive tax credit for that calendar year.
Please mail checks to:
2711 Middleburg Drive
Columbia, SC 29204
Donors may wish to pledge over a number of months/years. The Foundation will send an invoice according to the schedule a donor chooses.
Securities and Real Estate
The GSSM Foundation accepts gifts of appreciated securities. This type of gift may be tax-advantaged.
Many employers have corporate matching gift programs. Donors can often double their gifts through these programs. Each company has different guidelines, so donors are encouraged to check with their company's personnel or human resources office for the necessary forms.
Honorary and Memorial Gifts
A gift in memory or in honor of a teacher, student, alumnus, or friend is a meaningful way to recognize a person's life and accomplishments. When an honorary or memorial gift is received, the Foundation notifies the honoree or family and the gift is administered as the contributor specifies. Donors are asked to provide the Foundation with the name and address of those whom you would like notified.
- Expect Great Things Endowment and Programming Campaign (2007-2015) - With the support of the SC General Assembly, GSSM began growing its student population from 175 to 288. With this growth, the Foundation's endowment needed to double in size to match the increased need. The second campaign in GSSM's history, the Expect Great Things Endowment and Programming Campaign was designed to support key initiatives such as the Summer Program for Research Interns, the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Economics & Finance Institute, and Accelerate.
- Campaign for Sustaining Excellence (1995-2003) - The Campaign for Sustaining Excellence established the GSSM Foundation's current $10+ million endowment. This endowment was designed to support GSSM programs that maintain "margins of excellence" that are the hallmark of GSSM offerings. The initial campaign involved corporations, foundations, and individuals committed to excellence in scientific, mathematical, and technological education.
