Standardized Test Optional Information

For 2020-2021 application cycle to GSSM, submission of PSAT, Pre-ACT, SAT or ACT scores are optional for admission purposes.

Standardized Test Optional Policy

Why Test Optional?

GSSM is committed to evaluating each applicant with a holistic review process that utilizes experienced committees comprised of diverse faculty, staff, and leadership to review each application with equity and impartiality. Standardized test scores are among a myriad of factors considered when reviewing applicants. Regardless of standardized test score(s) submitted by an applicant, the Admissions Review Committees will examine applicants’ high school transcripts, letters of recommendation, essays, character and demonstrated commitment and perseverance in their academics. Admissions Review Committees will remain committed to rendering the most informed admissions decisions guided by a holistic review that considers applicants backgrounds and experiences.

How Does GSSM Evaluate an Application Without a Test Score?

GSSM considers the following components to make an admission decision for all applicants:

  • Completed Online Application
  • High School Transcript
  • Essays
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Character and determination
  • Test scores, if submitted, will be added to these factors

How Do I Know if I Should Submit My Scores?

If you’re pleased with your PSAT, Pre-ACT, SAT or ACT scores and think they reflect your academic ability, you may submit them for consideration. However, test scores are not required. All applications will be reviewed for admission with or without test scores.

If you are unsure of whether you wish to submit your test scores for consideration, you may contact your Enrollment Counselor.
