There are no tuition charges at GSSM, just a meal fee and one-time security deposit. No student will be denied participation in GSSM’s residential program due to inability to pay fees—financial aid is available.Fees and Financial Aid
Dear GSSM Families,
Governor Henry McMaster announced today in a joint press conference with South Carolina Superintendent of Education, Molly Spearman, that all South Carolina public schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Please be aware, as required by state law and contractual obligations, GSSM will continue with virtual instruction through the remainder of the scheduled school year.
The Governor based his decision in part on the challenges of maintaining social distancing in a school setting. He stated that an executive order will be announced next week that will officially close schools for the remainder of the year due to the continuing spread of coronavirus.
We understand this school year has not gone as planned for our community, and we have been impressed by the commitment to education from our students, families, faculty, and staff during this unprecedented time. Details regarding academics and move-out procedures will be sent in subsequent communications from Mr. Dorsel and Dr. Mobley respectively.
We understand that this is a very difficult situation for many. We thank you for continuing to support your child’s learning, despite the many challenges of this time. This decision reinforces that the health and safety of our students and staff must always come first. GSSM hopes everyone will continue to remain safe and healthy as we navigate this situation.
Ershela L. Sims, Ph.D.
