The Adventure of Team 772, Caveman with Rock

Grace Brueggman, GSSM junior and member of the robotics team, shares the trials, tribulations and excitement of competing in the FTC South Super Regional Championships in San Antonio, TX. The team learned many things along the way, such as: bubble wrap is not enough to protect a robot from the U.S. Mail, and other useful tips.

Piedmont Natural Gas Supports GSSM’s Summer Program in Spartanburg

GSSM is pleased to announce the Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation has contributed $5,000 in support of iTEAMS Xtreme Spartanburg, GSSM’s four-day technology, computer science and entrepreneurship camp for rising 7th and 8th graders, held in 13 counties across the state. GSSM hosted iTEAMS Xtreme at Carver Middle School July 6-9, 2015.

GSSM Partners With Time Warner Cable to Deliver STEM Camps Across SC

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) received a $5,000 investment from Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds initiative to support the School’s satellite summer camps, iTEAMS Xtreme and CREATEng. Time Warner Cable employees are also volunteering their time and expertise with campers at the iTEAMS Xtreme camps.

President Brockman Awarded the Order of the Palmetto

GSSM President Dr. Murray Brockman was awarded the Order of the Palmetto, bestowed upon him by Governor Nikki R. Haley, during a community retirement celebration on May 14, 2015, at the Black Creek Arts Center in Hartsville. The award, presented to Dr. Brockman by Speaker Jay Lucas (R-Darlington), is the state’s highest civilian honor awarded to citizens of South Carolina for extraordinary lifetime service and achievements of national or statewide significance. The Order of the Palmetto is a once in a lifetime achievement.

200Keys Conference Featured in ETV's Carolina Money

On February 21 at the IT-oLogy facility in Columbia, SC, the Governor’s School of Science and Mathematics held its annual 200Keys Conference. The conference began as an independent project in the SCGSSM’s Tech Venture class, intended to serve as a non-profit, educational technology conference that would give South Carolina teens the tools they needed to explore entrepreneurship in college and beyond.
