Alumni Career Day

GSSM held the 4th annual Alumni Career Day on Saturday, April 5. Students heard about careers ranging from veterinarian to fighter pilot!

Attending The Townes Award Dinner

More than 400 people attend the annual Townes Award Dinner. Most of the attendees are business and government leaders, along with GSSM parents, faculty, staff and alumni. Only about 20 of the guests are current students. So, one might wonder what students think about attending this fancy event. Wonder no more! Life After GSSM

Carl Garris, GSSM class of 2013, is now a freshman history major at the University of South Carolina. It is easy to see how living in a dorm during high school would prepare you for college dorm life ... but what about the rest of the transition? It sounds like he hasn't skipped a beat!

GSSM Robotics Team to Compete in FIRST Tech Challenge World Championship

GSSM's robotics team has been invited to compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) World Championship Tournament. One hundred twenty-eight teams will advance from Super-Regional Championships and International Tournaments to the World Championship to compete for the top spots in the FTC. The 2013-2014 FTC World Championship is April 23-26, 2014, at the Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, Missouri.

Plum Creek Supports GSSM's Summer Program

GSSM is pleased to announce Plum Creek Foundation has contributed $7500 in financial aid in support for attending GoSciTech, GSSM’s residential science and technology summer camp, to students from Lexington, Richland, Berkeley, Colleton or Newberry counties.

Eighteen students from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) recently brought home 23 awards from the SC Junior Academy of Science (SCJAS) Annual Spring Meeting. Governor's School Accepting Applications for New CREATEng Summer Camp

CREATEng is a one-of-a-kind, four-day immersion into engineering and design-based thinking for rising 9th graders in Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester and Greenville counties. Working in teams, students will engage in a problem-based curriculum where they apply principles of engineering design to solve daily challenges.

GSSM is Hosting iTEAMS Camps in Locations Across the State

iTEAMS, or Innovation, Technology & Entrepreneurship Among Middle Schoolers, is a day-camp held in districts across the state for four days at no cost. iTEAMS aims to inspire students to pursue careers in the fields of computer science and technology through innovative hands-on, team-based projects. Working cooperatively and using the latest technologies, students will create a video game, mobile app or interactive object.

GSSM Accepting Applications for GoSciTech Summer Camp

GoSciTech, held on GSSM's Hartsville campus, will be offered for four separate weeks this summer: June 15-21, June 22-28, July 6-12 and July 13-19. With a wide variety of courses to choose from, students can select which week (or weeks) to attend. Courses cost either $725 or $750 per week, including room and board.
