Innovative engineering education for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders which provides intense academic rigor and a fast-paced learning environment which, upon successful completion, will allow well-prepared students to earn up to 43 college credits by the end of the 12th grade*.

Provided by the SC Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics and SC college partners, Accelerate allows students to live at home and continue at their local schools while providing the high quality education for which the SC GSSM is known. Classes are LIVE and not pre-recorded, accessible via multiple mediums (computers, audio/visual equipment, etc.) provided for and maintained by SC GSSM.

The application for Accelerate's class of 2019 is now closed. We'll begin accepting applications for the class of 2020 in November 2016.

Requirements for consideration:

  • GPA
  • Course grades/transcripts
  • Standardized test scores
  • Extracurricular and volunteer activities
  • Teacher and guidance counselor recommendations
  • Written essay
  • Mathematics assessment 

NOTE:  Students must complete Algebra l prior to the beginning of 9th grade, and project successful completion of Algebra ll by the end of 9th grade.  If Algebra II is not available, then students need to project completion of Geometry by the end of 9th grade.  Also, students who do not take Algebra II in the 9th grade or who do not pass the  math assessment will be required to take an Algebra II Honors course from GSSM in the summer before attending Base Camp.
