Elizabeth Oswald-Sease, MBA

Vice President of Finance and Operations / Chief Financial Officer

Bio

Elizabeth Oswald-Sease is the Vice President of Finance and Operations/Chief Financial Officer for GSSM. Elizabeth is an experienced business professional with over 12 years of experience in educational settings. Before joining GSSM, Elizabeth served as the Associate Director of Finance and Budget Operations for the University of South Carolina’s College of Arts and Sciences, where she worked to ensure that planned resources were available to meet the College’s strategic objectives and managed a high-performing team focused on developing and implementing the College’s nearly $300M annual operating budget. She also previously served as the Director of Human Resources and Business Operations at the University of South Carolina’s School of Law, where she played a critical role in leading the school’s strategic planning initiative. Before joining the University of South Carolina, Elizabeth worked at Winthrop University in various roles, including serving as a Financial Data Analyst within the University’s Office of Institutional Research and as the institution’s Procurement and Risk Manager.

A first-generation college student, Elizabeth is a South Carolina native and graduated second in her undergraduate class at Winthrop University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History with Summa Cum Laude distinction. She studied Public History as a graduate student at the University of South Carolina and ultimately earned a Master of Arts in History from Winthrop University. Her thesis focused on the media's role in shaping the American national memory of Abraham Lincoln’s racial beliefs and policies by analyzing political coverage of Lincoln in South Carolina. Elizabeth also earned a Master of Business Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business and is certified as a Procurement Officer with the State of South Carolina.

Elizabeth resides in Ridgeway, South Carolina, on a peaceful ten-acre abode with her husband, four dogs, two cats, and a pet turtle. She keeps her love of history alive by serving as the Editor-in-Chief of a historical publication, The Quarterly.
