HARTSVILLE, S.C. (May 3, 2024) ─ The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation is pleased to announce it has received a $30,000 grant from The Trane Technologies Foundation. This grant will support GoSciTech Summer Camps to advance Trane Technologies’ corporate citizenship strategy, Sustainable Futures, which promotes access to STEM and sustainability education and careers for students underrepresented in the STEM industry.
“At Trane Technologies, our view of a sustainable future is one that provides equitable access to resources and opportunities, and this program helps our community move the dial,” said Deidra Parrish Williams, Director of Trane Technologies Foundation and Corporate Citizenship.
Sustainable Futures is part of the Opportunity for All pillar of Trane Technologies’ 2030 Sustainability Commitments, reflecting the company’s commitment to creating a workforce reflective of its communities, gender parity in senior leadership, and uplifting communities through STEM learning.
GSSM's summer programs offer students a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on educational experiences across a wide range of subjects. Through these programs, students are exposed to cutting-edge teaching and state-of-the-art technologies, fostering their curiosity and passion for science, mathematics, and engineering.
“Trane Technologies’ mission of providing innovative solutions is exemplified in their partnership with GSSM to pilot GoSciTech Scholars for rising 8th graders in Allendale, Bamberg, Hampton, and Jasper Counties to attend GSSM's Residential Summer Camp. Trane is helping GSSM break down barriers and make our transformative STEM education accessible to all students in South Carolina,” said GSSM President Danny Dorsel.
Trane Technologies’ grant and partnership with GSSM highlights our shared commitment to equipping the next generation of young scientists with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in STEM fields, contribute to community growth, and to foster a bright future for South Carolina and our world.
