Do you like to play video games? Have you ever wanted to create your own video games? Ever wondered what engineering is all about?

Early experiences with STEM help to build students’ confidence with new technologies. That is why we have created ENGAGE.

"I would recommend this to my friends because my friends and I had a lot of fun in this program and we were learning at the same time!" -ENGAGE student

"The after school programs have been a great opportunity for my child to try new things."  - ENGAGE parent

Delivered by GSSM’s Center for Science Education & Outreach, ENGAGE is designed to impact students through early interest and awareness of STEM studies.

Two four-week after-school ENGAGEMENT will be offered this spring to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in Darlington County.

Programming with Python: Activities will center on the fundamentals of computer programming through video game design using Python technology. Python is a powerful programming language with endless possibilities. Open to 7th & 8th graders. Applicants should have a strong understanding of Algebra and computational thinking.

Engineering for Survival: Activities will center on a series of adventure scenarios set in the jungle that require hands on problem solving using the engineering design process in order to survive. Open to 6th-8th graders.
