Become a Technology Rock Star

Calling all rising 6th, 7th & 8th graders! Sharpen your technology skills this summer through one of three tracks at the iTEAMS Xtreme Day Camp.

Track 1: Smart Bots

Have you ever wondered how self-driving vehicles work? Or how can cars automatically brake to avoid an accident? In this course, you will explore the world of Automation Technology + Robotics using the mBot and solve  programming challenges centered on the principles of automation technology found in the world around us.

Track 2: Robotics

Have you ever wondered how robots operate? Have you ever wanted to learn how to code? In this course, you will explore the world of computational thinking and microcontrollers using the mBot. You will learn how to program your very own micro-controlled robot and pit it against other students' robots in  competitions such as Maze Runner and Robot Wars.

Track 3: Game Design

Do you like to play video games? Have you ever wanted to create your own video games? In this course, you will explore the world of game design as you create and play 2D and 3D multiplatform games in camp wide competitions.

Summer 2022 Dates & Location

All camps are in person and run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM daily at the site location.

Cost & Scholarship Info

2022 iTEAMS Xtreme program fee is $230. This includes all instruction, supplies, a t-shirt, snacks and a pizza party on the final day of camp. Thanks to the generous support and sponsorships from businesses, individuals, and foundations, scholarships will be available to eligible students. 

Who Is Eligible to Apply to iTEAMS Xtreme Day Camp?

Rising 6th, 7th & 8th graders who have demonstrated scholarship in science and math and desire an academically challenging STEM summer experience. Students must submit their 2020-21 first semester report card as part of their application and must have a B average or higher in order to be enrolled in iTEAMS Xtreme.

What Can I Expect at the iTEAMS Xtreme Camp?

  • Awesome experiences, hands-on projects, and competitions using robots or game design software
  • A four-day immersion into the world of robotics or 2D/3D game design
  • Interactions with other students who share a passion for technology

iTeams Xtreme FAQs

What will the daily schedule look like?

Each day will run from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Each day will consist of mini technology challenges and the week will end with a Smart Faire.

Do I need to bring food to camp?

You will need to bring lunch to camp for Monday-Wednesday. A pizza party will be provided on the final day of camp. We provide snacks and water each day; however, if you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, you should pack a snack with your lunch.

What supplies do I need to bring to camp?

Nothing! You will be provided with a camp workbook, a writing utensil, and all of the supplies you will need to complete your activities.

What types of technology will I learn?

iTEAMS Xtreme will work with Arduino technology, robots, or home design software.

Should I bring my own electronic devices?

The camp supplies all electronic devices necessary. The camp staff cannot guarantee the security of your electronics while at camp. Students may bring cell phones, but we request parents set clear guidelines on use. Cell phones cannot be used during class time. If devices are deemed to be used inappropriately, they will be confiscated and returned to parents at the end of camp.

Is this an overnight camp?

No, iTEAMS Xtreme is a day camp. Parents/guardians are required to drop students off in the morning and pick them up at the end of each camp day.

Is financial assistance available?

Yes, a limited amount of financial aid is available to residents of South Carolina. It is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Families who are interested in applying must complete the financial assistance section of the program application.

Can I see what my child has been working on all week?

Yes! There will be a showcase on Thursday afternoon of each week of camp. You will get an invitation at the beginning of the week.

Can I request to be on a team with my friends?

Campers will be assigned to specific instructors. If you happen to be in the same class, yes you can! However, camp is a great time to meet new people and make new friends!
